Get a piece of cool history with this sticker pack!In 1983, Armson was already manufacturing tritium-powered OEG sights in South Africa when the first ones were imported for sale in the USA. While today we recognize tritium as a relatively benign barely radioactive isotope useful for powering night sights and the indices on watch faces, in the highly paranoid years of the Cold War anything “nuclear” or radioactive was looked at with some measure of alarm.
In the earliest days of importing the Armson OEG, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) wanted assurances the tritium inside the OEG sights would not be a problem, and so an agreement was reached and the colorful sticker you see here was created and applied to all OEG sights sold in the USA at first. Eventually, the sights would be stamped on the housing “South Africa Exempt” and the label disappeared, becoming an interesting footnote.
These reproduction labels were painstakingly recreated from images of originals, matching the bright colors and the unique fonts. The only change made was to update the address at the bottom of the label to the current location of Armson USA. As a bonus, these stickers were created with the approval and encouragement of the good folks at Armson USA!
Included are 2 labels, and the card explaining the label’s history, with the handy zeroing information on the back for reference. Shipping included with price.
