For more than 2,000 years the production of black pottery has ceased because the rare clay from which it was made were thought to be exhausted until when deposits of these raw material were found. It is called Black Pottery because of the special characteristic of the clay that when fired in it's natural state turns into a dark-black, silver-gray or purple-indingo color. This pure fine and smooth gray clay are made into various shapes and designs, each item is meticulously decorated and painstaking burnish by hand to give it a luster like that of metal. So unique are the properties of the final products that when knocked gives a sound like that of chime stone.
