Fine Old Sterling MUSTARD /. JAM POT-REPOUSSE Floral Decoration-Tankard Form-NR

Up for bid is a fine sterling silver mustard or jam pot with repousse floral decoration, origin unknown.  The piece is 3 1/2 inches tall by 3 1/2 inches wide over the handle and weighs 117 grams.  It is a flat chased lid with thumbpiece, repousse chased floral sides, a c-scroll handle and three scrolling tab feet.  It does not have a glass liner, but almost certainly did originally. It is monogrammed “JGJ” in a reserve on the front.  The piece is just marked “STERLING” on the base, but I suspect it was added later.  I do not know where is comes from, though it looks Scandinavian in form.
Condition on the piece is quite good.  Aside from the missing liner and a few small spots there are just normal signs of use. A fine old mustard pot!
