    Mustard Pot Belleflower Smiling Devil Masks Gorham 1892 Sterling Silver
    American sterling silver Aesthetic SmilingDevil Mask and Belleflower mustard pot with a gilt interior by Gorham Silversmiths, date marked for 1892. This wonderful figural mustard pot has three smiling Devil Masks, with the Devil′s horns supporting garland wreaths of Belleflowers with central Pansy blossoms. One of the masks has a beard, the other two seem to be more feminine. The bottom third of the body has Aesthetic, repeating, swirling fluted designs emanating from a circular, spread foot base. The fluted, domed, hinged lid with its ball finial adds to the overall appeal of this special mustard pot. The C Shaped handle has no dents and the hinge is clean and tight, with the lid fitting properly. Monogrammed as described above, the soft, warm, original finish is present, with no buffing or machine polishing. The excellent original condition and clear detail, with no removals, repairs or alterations, make this an especially attractive offering. Make sure to see the matching salt and pepper shakers.
